After four successful months, our Christening gifts engraving service is proving increasingly popular.
The St Christopher pendant with initials has been the most regular choice, offering a personalised, lasting Christening gift for under £30, whilst sales of napkin rings, bookmarks and cufflinks have increased month on month. However, the Christening gift to benefit most from the new
engraving service is undoubtedly our traditional silver egg cup.
A classic Christening present, this silver egg cup has become even more popular now that it can be engraved with a simple set of initials. The majority of customers are choosing the engraver's "English Script" for the initials, perfectly complimenting the style & design of the cup.
Although we suggest allowing 2 to 3 days for an engraved gift to be dispatched, we have, more often than not, engraved and dispatched on the same day as a order. In fact, any engraving order that has been received by 9am Monday to Friday has been dispatched on the same day.
More engraved Christening gifts will be added to list over the coming months.

We've added another super Tooth Fairy box to our Christening gift range.
This is a substantial tooth fairy box, weighing in at over 30 grams of silver. Beautifully designed by a London silversmith and hallmarked at the London Assay Office, this is a great Christening gift or new baby present. A charming little fairy sits on the lid, whilst the pot has ample space on the side for engraving of a name or initials. A magic gift!

Over the past three years, taste and fashion may have changed, but our range of keepsake Christening gifts has maintained its position as one of our most reliable Christening gift lines.
Our first
tooth fairy keepsake box, from a celebrated Sheffield silversmith, has always been popular and, at under £40, offers an attractive gift of high perceived value at a very competitive rate.
We are now adding another
tooth fairy box to the range. This cute hinged box with a fairy seated on the lid
comes from a London jeweller. The box is engraved with the words "first tooth" and is priced at £49.
Further First Curl boxes and Tooth Fairy boxes have been booked for 2009 as we expand our range of Christening gifts - offering you the most comprehensive selection of sterling silver Christening and Baptism gifts you will find anywhere on the web.

Another exciting Christening gift has been added to the Christening Silver product range. This pretty
Silver Baby Rattle is competitively priced at only £79 and comes in an elegant presentation box. As Christening gifts go, this is definitely a winner - a great present for a baby girl or boy.
Our range of
silver baby rattles has become increasingly popular over the past 12 months and as a result we are adding three new rattles to the gifts on offer. This first rattle is hallmarked in Sheffield. The next two rattles will be added to the collection in March and come from a London silversmith. Once again, these are assayed and hallmarked ... unbeatable Christening gifts!

Over January and February 2009 we have more than 30 new Christening gifts to add to our site.
The first Christening gift to be added to our stock has been requested regularly over the past year. A simple
silver icthus fish pendant:
This pretty little necklace is competitively priced at only £16.99, but is the sort of Christening gift that will last a lifetime. The baby that receives this icthus on her Christening day will probably still have it in her jewellery box and be wearing it well into her adult life.
Manufactured in sterling silver by Birmingham silversmiths, this necklace is based on the ICTHUS symbol adopted by early Christian communities throughout the Roman Empire. The Greek word for fish, icthus, is an acrostic of the Greek words, Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter which translates as Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour. The icthus also reflected Jesus's wish that his disciples became Fishers of Men.
This necklace is a timely addition to our range of Christening gifts, priced well under £20 including delivery.

The Christening gift market is flooded with all manner of trinkets and gewgaws. These Christening gifts are often beautifully packaged, nicely branded and usually presented with a cute eye-catching gimmick. Attractive as these gifts are, they lack substance and longevity. More often than not, they see little use and end up unloved and forgotten at the bottom of the household bits'n'bobs draw.
A Christening gift should last a lifetime. Christenings are about the child's future, so anything they receive to commemorate the event should be something they can treasure or use throughout their lives and even hand on to future generations. It's not about short-term satisfaction, but long-term commitment - and it is here that the traditional Christening gift wins out every time.
Well chosen gift items such as
Christian jewellery &
Christening bibles will last throughout a child's life. However, since Victorian times, a number of secular gifts have gained in popularity and still carry the caché and perceived value of future heirlooms: The personal
napkin ring that will be used for life; the child's
loop spoon that your godchild will use and then give to their own children; the
silver tankard engraved with initials and Christening date that in 200 years will still be displayed with pride by family members you will never even meet.
As you look around your home at treasured possessions and family memories, consider carefully what you would choose to give that special baby on their Christening day.

It's not all doom and gloom in the current economic climate. The weakness of the pound may be making us Brits think twice about our overseas holidays, but it has helped generate interest from overseas in quality British products and, more particularly, our very own silver
Christening gifts range.
Christening gift sales to the USA from the CHRISTENINGsilver website have increased as the pound has declined. Not long ago, one of our best selling sterling silver
Christening bibles would have cost a buyer from the USA around $USD 130.00 including delivery, today the cost is just $USD 96.00!
With the refund of Value Added Tax for Christening gifts exported to the USA, prices are highly competitive, even when the Airmail delivery is taken into consideration. For example, our popular Georgian Handled
Christening Tankard - currently priced at £119.00 - will only cost a buyer from the USA as little as $USD 162.00 including delivery (less tax).
Hallmarked sterling silver from the UK has always been popular with buyers throughout the world. Now's a great time to grab a bargain!

Sales of Christening gifts over the last week seem to have concentrated on the tried and tested classics like silver napkin rings and silver egg cups. However the most sought after Christening gift in the first week of 2009 was ... drum roll for added tension ... our Sterling Silver Birth Record Stork Spoon ... and you can't get any more traditional than that.
Our Stork Spoon is an excellent baby Christening gift based on a Victorian design. It is still made in the UK by local silversmiths using the same manufacturing processes developed at the beginning of the last century.

Cross pendants proved popular Christening gifts throughout 2008 and, as a result, we will be adding to our pendant and necklace Christening gift selection in 2009.
One necklace however stood out throughout the year as a consistent best seller. This silver looped cross pendant is an elegant, timeless design. Hallmarked in Edinburgh, it is one of our range of Christening gifts chosen for a lifetime of use. This piece will be as popular with your goddaughter when she's a teenager as it will be when she has children of her own.
Amazingly, our silversmiths discontinued manufacturing this beautiful cross earlier this year, but after a bit of arm twisting we are now guaranteed a regular supply.
