Also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, the original design for this medal was created by Saint Catherine Labouré following a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1830. This popular pendant, depicting Mary on the front and the Marian Cross on the reverse is worn by Catholics, and some non-Catholics, in the belief it will bring them special graces through the intercession of Mary.
This medal depicts the many images and symbols described in St Catherine's original vision and is a pretty Christening gift that will have great resonance throughout the recipient's life.
